Bridal FAQs

How far in advance should I book my wedding date, for makeup and hair services?

Weddings can be booked up to 2 years in advance, and no later than 3 months to ensure your date. However, if you are in a pinch, let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

When should I book for my makeup and hair trial?

Trial Runs should be booked closer to your wedding day. We recommend booking your trial on a special day, so that you can show off your beautiful look.  Many brides will book it on the day of their bridal shower, engagement shoot, bachelorette party or dress fitting. Due to the high demand of weddings, we will no longer be doing trials during the weekends, only week days. During the slow season November - March we'll make an exception to weekend trials.

How should I prepare my hair and skin for the trial?

The bride’s hair should be clean and completely dry (washed the night before or morning of) in order to have the hair set properly. Brides should moisturize their skin prior to the Trial Run; this will enable the makeup to go on smoother and last longer. Please do not wax your brows or receive a facial closer than 2 days prior to the event, but if you need one prior to your wedding day, we offer Brow waxing and can recommend where to go for a facial.

How long does a trial run last?

The bride should give herself an average of 1.5 hour for makeup and up to 1 hour for hair to ensure she receives exactly what she is looking for. If you are booking both services together, then we do the makeup and hair trial at the same time putting your appointment time to 2 hours.

What is involved in a trial run?

We take wedding Trial Runs very seriously.  The bride will discuss different looks and the details of her wedding with the artists and will receive a complete makeup and hair service in our Beauty Salon.

Please bring your veil and headpiece if you have purchased them.  Sometimes brides will schedule trials for their mom or Maid of Honor, we have enough space to do 2 people at the same time, but if not, they are free to hang out and watch.

Besides bringing in my headpiece and veil to the trial run, do I need anything else?

We recommend that the bride bring in photos of makeup and hair ideas for the wedding day.

Will the artist at my trial be the same artist for my wedding day?

Absolutely! The purpose of your trial is to tryout looks with the artist that will be assigned to you for your wedding day.

The day your trial is booked, we place a tentative hold on that artist for your wedding date.  However, keep in mind, if we don’t receive your deposit and contract shortly after your trial, we will need to open up the artists availability for that date.

What if I have short hair and want it to look longer, what can I do?

We recommend renting out our in-house clip-in extensions for your trial so that the artist can show you how they would look with your bridal style.  If you are unsure, that’s ok, your hair artist will discuss with you at your trial and make some recommendations.  We can style both clip-in extensions or any type of permanent extensions ie. bead, sewn-in, halos etc. as long as it is real hair.

Do you offer in-home services for my wedding day makeup and hair?

Yes! We have a team of makeup artists and hair stylists that strictly specialize in doing in-home services. We would need a minimum of 4 people receiving services to travel to you. Travel fees will apply.

Do you book more then 1 wedding in a day?

Yes we do. Since were in high demand and have a large highly trained Bridal team, were able to accommodate up to 3 weddings in a day. The Bride will always have their Lead Makeup Artist and Lead Hairstylist for their big day and have their highly trained team to do the Bridal Party. The Lead Makeup Artist and/or Lead Hairstylist can fit up to 2 Brides in a day leaving their team to finish up the rest of the party. If the Bride is done first thing in the morning, our team will be able to do any touch-ups for the Bride before they depart. We promise your Makeup and Hair will last all day!

Why should I hire Divine Beauty Bar's bridal team for my big day?

First of all, hiring a professional hair and makeup company that you can rely on will give you that peace of mind on your wedding day.  We hear too many sad stories about individual freelance artists falling through.

We guarantee that this won’t happen.  You will sign a contract that ensures you are locked in for your big day.

Secondly, our artists are all professionally trained in bridal beauty.  We know what looks good on camera and what will last through sweat and tears.

Lastly, you won’t find a more fun team to hang out with on your big day.  We are friendly, humble and respectful to all of our clients.  We love weddings and have a blast being a part of the experience!

Why is the bride’s hair & makeup more expensive than the bridal party?

For starters, more time and attention is spent with the bride from the very first day of contact, up until the day of the wedding. From phone calls, emails, contracts, and creating day-of schedules to the extra time spent getting the bride ready on her big day, placing her veil, additional touch-up time, high end products just for the Bride, spending extra time on her hair & makeup, making sure her look is perfect.....our focus is always on her!  Since the bride is the main client, as it’s her wedding day, all of this is included in her price.

Since it’s a group the others are less, which if the bride is paying for them too—it saves her money.

If we charged the same for bridesmaids that we have to charge the bride — they likely wouldn’t have their hair or makeup done.

We have to earn a certain amount for blocking out the time it takes too. Our costs are all our own–time, education/skills, products, mileage and general costs of running a business. That’s why we have to charge what may seem a higher rate in general.

Is there a Deposit required to book my Wedding?

Yes, a $150 deposit is required to secure your spot with us for your big day. The $150 will be deducted from the Bride's total.

Bride will need to pay her remaining balance 1 month prior to her wedding day.

How long will my makeup and hair take on the wedding day?

For the Bride we typically spend up to 1.5 hours on the makeup and up to an hour for the Hair. Bridesmaids will take about 45 minutes each, unless someone has abnormally long or thick hair.

How should I prepare for my wedding day hair and makeup?

Have everyone in the bridal party arrive with clean, dry hair and clean moisturized skin compatible for fresh makeup.

If you have SPF in your moisturizer, we recommend avoiding anything over 15 SPF to avoid the “white face” look in photos. Exfoliate your lips so that your lipstick will stick, and whiten those pearly white teeth so that your smile stands out in photos.  On the day of, wear a robe or button down shirt so that your hair will stay in place, and sit back, relax, and enjoy the pampering before you walk down the aisle.
